SCHOLARSHIPS 2017-2018

Scholarship awards are very exciting to receive after many years of hard work and dedication.  Keep in mind you must follow all the specified guidelines for each scholarship.  The Counseling Office has no additional information about many of the scholarships you apply for on-line. To find answers to questions about these scholarships, consult the specific scholarship website. Many scholarships require a transcript and/or recommendations. Be sure you request a transcript or letters of recommendation at least ten school days before it needs to be postmarked. Posted deadlines are the date by which materials must be postmarked, unless otherwise indicated below.

*Be sure to check with each college or university to which you are applying for available scholarships.

Additional sources for scholarships: www.collegefortn.org, www.scholarships.com, www.fastweb.com, www.studentscholarships.org, www.planningyourdreams.org . All of these have many scholarships that are not school specific and can be used at the college of your choice. If you earn either a 3.0 GPA OR a 21 on the ACT, you will automatically be eligible for the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship, which can be used at any in-state school. You MUST complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid; www.fafsa.gov; and create your FSA-ID at www.fsaid.ed.gov) online beginning October 1st to ensure that you will receive the HOPE. If you do not file the FAFSA, you will not receive the HOPE regardless of eligibility.
